Engagement Portraits: The Princess and The Mexican

When I sit down to write a blog post, I like to start by thinking about the couple themselves. While that may seem like the obvious place to begin, I could easily get lost in describing what I like about the pictures instead, or how the session went. But it’s really about the people, isn’t it?

Lately, I’ve noticed a reoccurring thought as I reminisce and plan out what to share. That reoccurring thought is, “I work with the coolest people.”

Daniel and Kari-Anne are no exception.

There are so many things that would be fun to recap. The way they laugh with each other and how funny they are, how Kari-Anne is a ridiculous marathon runner, how Daniel thinks he’s Ben Stiller… I could go on. The best story, however, is how they came to be together. It’s movie material.

Unfortunately, to give it it’s worth I’d need to write a screenplay. Since this is a blog, I’m not going to do that. But I can’t leave you hanging completely, so here are the high points.

  • They’re both CPAs. (I think it makes the whole story more funny…)
  • They’re best friends that should be together…
  • but, she’s not ready.
  • They have a big fight and they take space apart.
  • He won’t quit, regardless of friends urging him to.
  • Eventually, his determination pays off and they find their way back together.
  • It all ends (or begins, depending on how you look at it) with a crazy ridiculous proposal including a hut trip, a hidden story book about their life together, lots of meaningful inside jokes, and lots of tears.
  • And now, he still chases her… literally, as she trains for marathons.

She’s the Princess. He’s the Mexican. And I’m so excited to be there to help tell the story when they’re married!

Piney River Ranch Wedding: Cole and Emily

I think I can speak for Linsey when I say that Cole and Emily are a perfect example of why we love what we do.

Yes, we love the pictures, yes the bride was beautiful, and yes, the location was fantastic, but more importantly we’ve had the privilege of getting to know these two pretty well over the last few years.

Emily and I first met a while back when she was a bridesmaid at another wedding I shot and we started talking while Cole prepared to pop the big question. She’s also a talented photographer herself, so we have that in common.

Once they were engaged, we dove into the wedding planning with them and watched their beautiful celebration develop. Through long conversations, emails, Facebook, engagement sessions, and planning details, Linsey and I have been drawn to these two incredible people with hearts as big as the view at their wedding ceremony.

It was an honor for us to capture their day, but even more of an honor to attend as friends. Congrats Cole and Emily! We’re excited for what the future holds for you two!

Cielo at Castle Pines Wedding: Cameron and Melissa

Cameron and Melissa were married at Cielo at Castle Pines in Castle Rock, Colorado.

I’ve known Melissa and her family since long before I picked up a professional camera. She was just a little girl when we first met. Seeing her now… absolutely beautiful in her wedding dress walking down that aisle… was an incredible moment.

She’s definitely found an amazing man in Cameron. They fit together so well!

Congrats Cameron and Melissa. 🙂
