A Playlist For Those Quiet Times

The last few days have been cold. It’s nice to see that things are looking up now, but when the snow does come (or rain, or quiet summer night, or early morning, or…) I find myself reaching for a good book, something warm to drink, and (perhaps the most essential of all) a good playlist. If you find yourself enjoying a moment of melancholy in the near future, here’s a soundtrack I put together. Enjoy!

Nadia & Erik: Travel Themed Engagement Session

As it is still the season of engagements and with Valentines Day is quickly approaching, I figured we’d keep things rolling this week with one our most talked about engagement sessions. We’re going way back for this one… but it’s too good to skip. Couture Colorado actually beat us to the punch and featured Nadia and Erik’s session earlier. Head over here to check out their post.

Nadia had the fun idea of using an airport as the backdrop of her engagement session. She got her hands on a few great props through A Vintage Affair Rentals (Check them out! They have some great stuff!), and the rest was just easy…

Gina & Marko: Engagement Session on the Beach

Happy Wednesday!

With the weather so wonderful lately, I thought I would follow up last week’s ‘Trash The Dress in the snow” session with something a little warmer.

Gina and Marko’s engagement session was beautiful… except, maybe, for the ants. (There were ants everywhere.  At one point, I was literally dancing in place to keep the ants off my feet while shooting Gina and Marko’s ‘long walk on the beach’ shot – but that’s really beside the point.)

The point is that these two are beautiful together. (Thank you, Lori, for introducing us!) Gina and Marko fit together so well; they’re strong (literally:)), determined, and definitely able to have some fun.

I love that their session shows both sides of their story, including a few ‘formal shots’ along with some casual beach shots to round out the session!

Trash The Dress: Red Rocks & Snow with Adrienne & Robert

Hello. I’m back. Sorry it’s been so long. 🙂

It’s January. January means that it’s time to get in touch with our good intentions. It’s time to start eating better, time to go to the gym, time to start a budget, and for me, time to get back to blogging. There are so many wonderful engagement sessions and weddings that I’ve yet to share. Again, I apologize.

I’ve been wondering where to kick things off. With all the cold weather lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about one of my favorite ‘Trash The Dress’ sessions. For those of you who don’t know:

{Trash The Dress}
Also known as fearless bridal, rock the frock, or the day after session. Trash The Dress is a session shot after the wedding in which the Bride is a little more adventurous with her dress than would typically be safe before a wedding. This can include pictures with the bride standing in water, lying on the ground, or in our case, getting in the snow. We don’t always ‘trash’ the dress, but we do risk getting it a little dirty.

I love the idea behind these sessions because we can really get some use out of the dress! While I understand cherishing the dress as a memento, I also understand getting your money’s worth and creating some great art with it as well.

For this particular shoot, Adrienne, Robert, and I waited for a good snow fall and scheduled an impromptu session out at Red Rocks. Giving credit where credit is due, this was Adrienne’s idea.

…and they rocked it.

Complete with snow boots and some awesome socks, Adrienne and Robert braved the cold to play in the snow. They even made snow angels… sort of. (Robert did pretty well, but Adrienne as out of the snow as soon as she hit the snow. 🙂 Who can blame her? She was in a strapless dress. I’m impressed she tried it!)

Mexico Destination Wedding: Gabe & Nicole, Part III

If you’re just joining us for Gabe and Nicole’s wedding, you can find the first post here and the second post here. Their destination wedding took place at Now Jade, a resort in a little village called Puerto Morelos, just between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.

Now… on to the ceremony! It took place overlooking the ocean. It was picture perfect.

After the ceremony, we finally made it to the beach for a few pictures with the bridal party. Gabe and Nicole have incredible friends and family. It was not only fun to work with them, it was an honor!

I joke that these next two shots feel like they fell out of a J. Crew catalog. Nice work, guys. 🙂

Then came the party! The reception was full of dancing and celebrating…

I’m not sure what Gabe’s drawing in this next one… I think he was just excited to finally be married!

We had a few moments through the course of the day for just Gabe and Nicole…

And there’s more to come!

A few days after the wedding, we went into Playa Del Carmen and… well, I don’t want to give too much away! There’s another post on the way with some of my favorite images from Mexico. For now, let’s just say that we may have trashed the dress. 🙂
