I love Vail. I especially love Vail weddings. There’s just something magical about the place that is perfect for a destination wedding.
John and Elise had their ‘first look’ on top of the mountain. While Kristi and I were just in the background taking pictures, it was an amazing moment to be a part of. As the gondola rose, so did the level of anticipation. I rode with John while Kristi and Elise were just a few cars behind. At the top, John spent a few moments overlooking the mountains waiting to see Elise for the first time, surrounded by tourists taking endless pictures of the view.
As Elise made her way to the observation deck, the tourists gradually began to turn their focus from the unbelievable view they’d come to capture and instead watch what was about to happen. The observation deck cleared without a word being said so that John and Elise could have this moment all to themselves.
It was incredible to see strangers from all over the world, without direction or coercion, react naturally in celebration of John and Elise beginning their lives together.
The ceremony was held at the Vail Interfaith Chapel and the reception was at the Donovan Pavilions (two of my favorite Vail spots, but then again, there really aren’t any places I don’t like in Vail). Jessica, and the team from A Vintage Affair helped with decor and coordinating. As always, they were amazing to work with and did an incredible job.
Congratulations John and Elise!
