I love destination weddings. I love travel in general, but visiting a new place for a wedding is something special.
When we travel, we typically arrive early for the obvious reasons of making sure we’re acclimated and have time to overcome any last minute obstacles, but I also like to get a sense of where we are. People are very selective when it comes to where they get married and I find that understanding the location gives insight into the couple and the day as a whole.
Melissa and Andy were married in La Veta, Colorado. A very small town a few hours south Denver where Melissa grew up. I’ve been to La Veta once before and remembered it as beautiful. Coming back this time, however, I realized my memory failed to do La Veta’s beauty real justice. The mountains are right there. At night, it gets quiet and dark. Really quiet and dark. It seems as if every star in the sky is able to be seen.
Melissa wanted to honor where she came from so we tried to incorporate as much as we could into the photography. Her boots on the family tractor, setting the first look in her backyard, and as much of the natural beauty as we could possibly fit in the frame.
Melissa and Any are a fantastic couple, surrounded by loving family and friends… who know how to dance and have a good time. 🙂 It was a gift to spend a weekend in La Veta while capturing their wedding!
