Through My Lens: Thoughts Behind A Favorite Image

It’s a snowy day and time to blog. (It’s also May… which makes the snow ridiculous yet very Colorado like, but that’s a different story).

I’ve been thinking lately that it might be fun to occasionally share a little about what goes on behind the camera and what goes into the images we take. With that in mind, I grabbed a favorite image from the past. Since it’s snowing, I picked one shot in the snow… although you can’t see the snow… perhaps suggesting that I wish I couldn’t see the snow currently falling outside my window. (But again, that’s a different story.)

Anyway… joy unrestrained. That’s what I see with Adrienne and Robert in this picture and that’s why I love it.

(I’ve actually posted this picture before. You can find the whole session here.)

I love this image because of the messiness. That’s where the unrestrained comes though and brings with it all the emotion. Their joy from being together is breaking out. Her smile peaks through, like the blue sky in the upper corner. The wind is moving her veil, Robert’s hair is slightly unkept, just like her arms around his neck – which are also asymmetrical. It’s more than romance, it’s the joy of being together bursting out of the formality of a suit and wedding dress.

And if you know Adrienne and Robert… this is so them.

Hope you’re staying warm today!
