Weddings are kind of my thing so I don’t get to photograph High School seniors all that much any more. But Kari is my Sister-in-law, so I was thrilled for this opportunity.
Pictures are powerful and meaningful, especially to me. Senior Pictures (along with newborn photography, and of course, weddings) are incredibly significant. With family, I’m slow to assume that just because I’m related and happen to be a photographer, that I’m the guy for the job or that I’m a fit for their specific style. I want the best for the people I love. I want them to have the best experience, feel special, and have amazing pictures. If that means I’m not the one behind the camera, that’s okay… as long as what they get is exactly what they wanted.
So when Kari asked me to take her pictures, I was humbled and honored. It was such a privilege to be the guy taking the pictures.
Kari, like the rest of her family, is amazing. I’ve known her since she was a little girl. It’s been a gift to watch her grow up. I remember her as a beautiful (sassy) girl who was 100% heart, loving everyone around her deeply and with intense loyalty.
Today, she’s even more beautiful… probably even more sassy… and she’s still has one of the biggest, most loyal hearts of anyone I know. Kari is the youngest of the immediate family with an older brother, 3 older sisters, and 3 of us brothers-in-law, not to mention her nephew and 7 nieces. I’m proud to be in that group of people, who along with Mom and Dad, would do anything for this girl!
You’re beautiful, Kari. 🙂 Just don’t grow up too fast…
