My People: Kristi and Brady + 1

When it comes to Kristi and Brady (my wife and son), I don’t even know if I’m biased anymore. I’m pretty sure I’m not. My wife and son are just flat out beautiful.

And now, we have one more on the way. 🙂

While I think it’s clear that I have a gorgeous family who certainly photographs well, there’s so much more for me in these pictures.

One of the many things I love about photography is how it preserves time. A picture can somehow capture emotion and hold it so it’s there for you to feel all over again when you look at it later.

I keep a daily journal and many of my entries are iPhone snapshots from a moment that I happen to be enjoying. I love flipping through those pictures more and more as time goes by.

The seasons in our life seem to be picking up pace, and the season we’re in right now I absolutely cherish. Kristi and I have so much fun together and with our crazy, three year old boy. It’s going so fast, though. Flipping through my journal seems to somehow slow time down, even if just a little bit.

I don’t pride myself on being a maternity or family photographer. It’s definitely not my strength. Still, I can’t get enough of these particular images. I think they’re amazing. Here, in regards to these specific shots, I can admit that maybe I am biased. They may not be amazing pictures in everyone else’s eyes but they are to me.

Because these are my people.

Because they remind me of how blessed I am to share life with them every day.

Even now, I keep looking at them over and over and my eyes well and I smile from some place deep. Ya, I know my family is beautiful, but’s it’s who they are that I see in these shots. It’s who they are that overwhelms me with thankfulness! That’s the beauty I don’t ever want to forget.
