Manor House Wedding: Justin and Starr

So much to say about this wedding…

First… Starr was stunning. You can clearly see that in the pictures. Linsey and I literally had to talk ourselves out of taking more pictures. At one point, we told Starr she had enough great shots to make an album entirely of her. After all was said and done, we really did get that many great shots of Starr. She just can’t take a bad picture.

Second… I love the Hawaiian crane thing. From what I understand, the Japanese tradition was to fold 1000 cranes for good luck and longevity in the marriage. The Hawaiian culture added one more, 1001 cranes, for even more good luck. I’m not sure how Justin and Starr felt about folding them, but they’re fantastic for pictures!

Third… Linsey was on fire. We have a little competition at weddings to see who takes the coolest or most unique pictures. Competition got going early when I used a chair to create shadows on Justin. From that point on, Linsey went nuts. Her winning shot is seen below… it’s the shot of the ceremony flowers with Justin and Starr in the reflection, upside down.

Fourth… what a fun wedding. It seems like all our couples this year have been amazing. We’re so lucky to work with them. Starr and Justin were no exception. It’s an honor to feel like friends who happen to take pictures at all our weddings.

Denver Engagement Session: Bryan and Kristen

The original plan was Evergreen. We had lined up a fantastic old car to go along with the awesome red suspenders and shoes you’ll see towards the end of the post – but the weather had a different agenda. We tried… I don’t know how many times… but the rain was waiting for each time we set out. So, in the end we scrapped the car and took off downtown.

But it’s all good. We had a beautiful day with gorgeous light to work with. The alley we found worked perfectly and I love what we came back with. We even stayed late to get a few nighttime shots.

Bryan and Kristen are super sweet, easy to be around, and just make sense together. It was fun to get to know them more, to laugh, and to take some pictures along the way. I can’t wait for the wedding at the Manor House in Littleton. 🙂

Inverness Hotel Wedding: Justin and Sam

This was one of those days when it was supposed to rain.

And it did.

But then it didn’t…

Then it did again.

For a girl planning for months on having an outdoor wedding in Colorado… rain can really throw things off. Especially sporadic rain. When it’s a downpour, you have no choice – you just go inside and deal with it. When the rain is on and off again like it was on this day, a bride can start to second guess herself. “It’s sunny now, should we still have it outside? Oh wait, now it’s raining again…” And on and on it goes.

All you end up thinking about or remembering is the weather.

But Samantha, she wasn’t distracted or disheartened at all. It was the actual act of marrying Justin that she was focused on and celebrating, inside or outside, rain or shine.

So the original plans changed and we had an indoor wedding and no one missed a beat. (Thank you Inverness Hotel for making everything so easy!)

Knowing Samantha for a long time now, this made perfect sense. In Justin, she’s found her person. Their love is real and they belong together. They’re so in love that a little rain wasn’t going to distract them from the most important day of their lives. And in the end, it all turned out beautiful anyway. 🙂

Vail Destination Wedding: David and Laura

Okay… so it’s been a few weeks. (Sorry!) September was packed with weddings and the chaos of the season bled into October a little. However, I’m beginning to get caught up again so I’m blowing the dust off this blog and getting back at it.

… starting with David and Laura’s Destination Wedding up in the mountains.

David and Laura came all the way out from New York and were married at the top of Vail Ski Resort. Their reception was in Breckenridge. It was classy, it was beautiful, and Laura was stunning.

This was one of those weddings that I felt honored and lucky to be a part of. It was more than the location, more than the details of the wedding… it was the people. David and Laura, along with their friends and family, are incredible. The only sad part is that they don’t live around here.

Oh well. I guess that’s just another excuse to visit New York!
