So much has happened in the last 5-ish months that I felt it appropriate to relay some of the major moments and highlights. That way we’re all up to speed.
I’m going to be honest with you right up front — My favorite part of this post is the title. (That and the pictures of Brady and me.)
***A side note – If you’re not familiar with August and Everything After it’s an exceptional CD by the Counting Crows. You should be familiar with it. Maybe we’ll get to that in another post.***
Our lives changed drastically in August. It all began on August 1st, 2011, just after 12pm when our little boy Brady was born.
If you haven’t met Brady… he’s pretty awesome. I’m well aware that I’m biased – but it’s true. He has a smile that will shake the dust from your soul. Ask anyone who’s seen him for more than 30 seconds – because that’s all it takes to get a smile from the little guy.

That wasn’t all August had for us, though. As if having our first child wasn’t enough, we signed a lease on our new studio space. I don’t remember much of that, though… I was pretty tired.
Then September came and with it 8 amazing weddings.

October was spent editing 8 amazing weddings and wiping away spit up. Sometimes I mixed the two. (Bad idea – I ended up replacing the keyboard on my MBP)
November brought 2 weeks in AZ complete with turkey, a visit from the local javelina, and 9 photo sessions – including my sister Bri’s senior session. It was pretty sweet to be a part of that… but I’m not too anxious for her to grow up.

December. I love me some Christmas music. I also found a few minutes to install our studio lighting and we took our first studio pictures!
Along the way, our staff grew.
- Kristi left her job and took on a few roles with cmp, including album design.
- Karen, our child/infant photographer, jumped in and got the studio built and decorated.
- Raine took over all things admin as our Studio Manager.
- Nicole joined us as resident fashion guru (and blog contibuter. Check her out here and here.)
- Linsey from lwp teamed up with us to shoot weddings.

All in all, it’s been an incredible few months. I’m pretty confident I’ve left some things out… but that’s what happens when sleep is elusive. I’m so excited to share more about what’s on the horizon. Keep reading… there’s more to come!
