It’s a snowy day and time to blog. (It’s also May… which makes the snow ridiculous yet very Colorado like, but that’s a different story).
I’ve been thinking lately that it might be fun to occasionally share a little about what goes on behind the camera and what goes into the images we take. With that in mind, I grabbed a favorite image from the past. Since it’s snowing, I picked one shot in the snow… although you can’t see the snow… perhaps suggesting that I wish I couldn’t see the snow currently falling outside my window. (But again, that’s a different story.)
Anyway… joy unrestrained. That’s what I see with Adrienne and Robert in this picture and that’s why I love it.
(I’ve actually posted this picture before. You can find the whole session here.)
I love this image because of the messiness. That’s where the unrestrained comes though and brings with it all the emotion. Their joy from being together is breaking out. Her smile peaks through, like the blue sky in the upper corner. The wind is moving her veil, Robert’s hair is slightly unkept, just like her arms around his neck – which are also asymmetrical. It’s more than romance, it’s the joy of being together bursting out of the formality of a suit and wedding dress.
And if you know Adrienne and Robert… this is so them.
Hope you’re staying warm today!
I’ve been anxious to share the images from Josh and Amy’s wedding. (You may remember these two from their ‘soft’ engagement session a while back…) Josh and Amy are so great to work with and posting their blog gives me a chance to relive all the great memories from their wedding day.
… and the wedding day was perfect. Amy was a stunning bride and Josh certainly held his own. Surrounded by celebrating friends and family, the warmth of the occasion more than made up for the frosty temperatures outside. There were smiles, there were tears… It truly felt like a community celebrating the love Josh and Amy share.
Linsey snapped this beautiful shoe shot. My favorite of the year so far…
Linsey also caught this perfect moment between Amy and her Father.
really… how great are her shoes?!?!
I’ve always wanted to visit New Orleans. Great food, the birth place of Jazz, unique architecture… I was pretty excited when Kristi, Brady, and I had the opportunity to finally go over Spring Break a couple of weeks ago.
We tried to check off some of the important items over the 36 hours we were there, including:
And on the last morning, I had the opportunity to wander through the famous Lafayette Cemetery No.1 with a pair of headphones and my camera. It’s been a while since I’ve done my own little photowalk (I’m now determined to make them happen more frequently), and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Talk about whiplash! It’s thought provoking to go from weddings, capturing the beginning of a new life together, to an old cemetery.
Here’s a bit of what I got. Seeing as how it’s not a wedding, I try to push the envelope a little more on the editing, just for fun…
… you can’t be in the ‘Garden District’ without getting at least one shot of a flower…
… and here’s a few from the French Quarter, just for fun…
…this last one can be hard to interpret. It’s of a homeless man taking shelter from the rain just outside the church…
Sorry we’ve been silent for the last two weeks… Spring Break took us away. (Pictures to come!)
In the meantime, here are a few shots from Josh and Amy’s gorgeous Highlands Ranch Mansion wedding!
