Denver Engagement Photographer: Daren and Krystal

Meeting Krystal and Daren you can instantly see how well they fit together. Daren brings the peace and the calm while Krystal is all smiles and energy. They have fun together easily and are absolutely crazy about each other. Their excitement for their wedding day is palpable… which makes me even more excited to be a part of it!

In their pictures, I thought we were able to capture a little of their texture as a couple as well as some of the passion they have for each other. I love Daren’s hat, Krystal’s dress, and that we included horses.  I couldn’t decide which one was my favorite. I’m torn between the kiss where Krystal is holding Daren’s hat and the kiss in the middle of the path. Both feel like they’re straight from a movie…

Denver Engagement Photographer: Chillin’ Around Red Rocks.

I really had a good time working with Kenton and Jenny. They’re such great people and super interesting. Jenny is studying medicine and Kenton just got back from some time in Argentina. They’re the type of people I enjoy hanging out with, which is why I’m looking forward to shooting their wedding in August!

… I love my job. Anyway…

I also love the way their pictures turned out. Of course, you can’t take a bad picture of these two! We shot a bit in Morrison and then turned the corner into Red Rocks. How cool is it that I regularly hang out at Red Rocks? When I was kid, I loved DMB’s Live At Red Rocks album. I had no idea that it was in Denver or that I would someday be in Denver. Red Rocks seemed like this mystical place where magic happened. Now I’ve been there, seen a few concerts (John Mayer and Jason Mraz to name some of the better ones…) and it turns out that my original idea wasn’t far off. This time, Jenny and Kenton took me to this little house/gift shop thing that I’d never been too. It was awesome. I only wish we had found it when we had a little more light left. Oh well, we managed to grab a couple sweet night shots!

Denver Engagement Photographer: The Quiet Type

First off, thanks to Kelley at the Manor House in Ken Caryl. She’s always amazing to work with. Jon, Crystal, and I thought it would be fun do to their engagement session on the property and she completely opened it up for us!

I really loved working with Jon and Crystal. They’re so easy going. They’re also the quiet type, at least at first. Sometimes the quiet type are intimidating to me. I start to wonder what they’re thinking and then begin overcompensating and talk enough for everyone. Then I leave the session completely annoyed with myself and slightly embarrassed. Fortunately, people like Jon and Crystal are usually gracious with me. I’m betting there are a handful of readers out there who’ve worked with me and know exactly what I’m talking about… 🙂

Looking through Jon and Crystal’s pictures, I love the subtly in how they interact. I like how they make each other smile. I love the genuine affection in their eyes when they look at each other. It was contagious and the thing I was hoping to catch. Just looking at their pictures makes me smile!

This Post Is Pointless & Has A Care Bear.

Sometimes when I’m setting up the lights, I do a few test shots. Sometimes when I do test shots, I use a care-bear for my subject. He’s very pleasant to work with and not camera shy at all. I figure he’s earned his shout out.

Now I’m curious how this post will do in competition with the infamous “Proof That Squirrels Blink” post from last year. Time will tell.

Denver Engagement Photographer: One Of My Favorites

This was such a cool session. Nicole and Gabe radiate love for each other. They fit well together, look amazing, and it was my pleasure to try and capture it all. I especially loved their choice of clothes. I’m a fan of jackets and their jackets were awesome. Which was good because, although the light was perfect, it was really cold. (That seems to be a reoccurring theme at the moment. I guess it could have something to do with winter. Who knows?) At one point, we jumped back in the cars just to warm up and feel our fingers again. As soon as we were warm… we pressed on.

Nicole, let me just take this opportunity one more time to place my vote for the warm destination wedding idea!
